What is it?
50 to 70 percent of pregnant women experience gingivitis while pregnant. Pregnancy gingivitis is a mild inflammation of the gums due to plaque biofilm buildup which include red and sore gums that bleed when brushed or floss.
How to treat and prevent pregnancy gingivitis?
- Brush and floss daily. Make sure to thoroughly remove all plaque from teeth
- Use a non-alcoholic mouthwash such as Closys, that is very soothing for your tender gums
- Make sure to see your hygienist every 4-6 months
